Matteo Guendouzi needed just 28 minutes to win Fenerbahce fans’ hearts with a lovely long-range strike.
The France midfielder only arrived in Turkey from Lazio yesterday, but was put straight in the starting line-up for the Super Cup final against Galatasaray.
His strike from outside the area was the opener, and ended up clinching the trophy in a 2-0 win, while a passionate celebration in front of the Gala fans will have done him even more favours.
Gala have had everything their own way in recent years, winning three-straight league titles while Fener haven’t done so since 2014.
Now just three points behind their Istanbul rivals and with their new signing up and running, this could well be a season to remember.
